Steady...

Capturing motion without it just appearing to be a blurry mess continues to be a struggle for me. I look at shots with great blur that is obviously purposful and I'm in awe. I like this shot because it somehow worked... it showed how still Ledger still is compared to the skaters around him. I'm not 100% in love with this shot but it's where I am now and something I want to be better at by the end of this projects. So, in the interest of striving for growth I'm sharing this not so perfect picture.

Light

Oh I had so much fun with light today! It was very hard to pick my photo. I took the most amazing pictures of Colin, but I just had him as my subject a little over a week ago, so I'll just have to post that on my FB almost made it pics. LOL. I'm really beginning to SEE light, I never really noticed it before? This was one of my favorites from today.

Sunset...

I still didn't feel well today but I did manage to make it outside. All the way to my back deck. I took several shots out there at different times of day and this one was my favorite.

I took lots of shots today with my mom here and even got a few of Dallas playing the guitar, so it was hard to pick! I chose two, one which has my mom in it!

Veggin' out...

I spent the day in my pajamas. I'm not feeling well and it has rained buckets- a lethal combination for productivity in my house. I did manage to pull myself up long enough to speed walk my way through ten minutes of Wii Fit. It zapped me so I could only muster up the energy to snap this shot to show how I spent most of the day. ;-)

Hope

I had a horrible day. It rained, I laid in bed and felt like a vegetable. I had no intent on spending any time on taking shots, I actually took a couple of my cat and a few of the front door thinking I would just post whatever. I thought the rain would never end but as we know, it has to end at some point and there's always hope. In my case, I found it as I looked out the window and realized the rain had finally stopped and there was a beautiful sunset. I threw on my long coat (mostly to cover my pj's) and headed out the door. I'm still not feeling so great, but I have the hope that things will be better. It was a beautiful sunset.

Distance...

I was born with wanderlust. When I was a little girl I would wake up in the morning and think about ways to get my mom to go somewhere, anywhere. As I grew up the urge to go, see, do pulled me more and more. One of my favorite things in my house is the triple bulletin board display of postcards and ticket stubs in my living room. Some of these are from places I've been, others people have sent me on their own trips. Some of the places are halfway around the world while others aren't even halfway across the state. I love them all. Sometimes when I've had a rough day I look at them and remember where I've been and dream of where I'll go and for a moment I'm there.

Going the distance

This morning I killed two birds with one stone (not that I would kill any birds! LOL) I went to the park early this morning armed with my camera and my running shoes! I took pictures first and then went running. It's true that the water is very calm in the morning and the sun rising makes beautiful reflections! I was really pleased with most of my shots and their exposure, this one I chose b/c of the sun coming up and the reflection of the trees in the water. It was nice to run around this lake as well!

Reflection...

I had so much fun playing with exposure today! It was a beautiful day and I had time to go to the park while Kya was in dance class. It is amazing how everything is just clicking now! I tried to take pics at this same park in the fall and just couldn't get it right- today was the complete opposite. Well, not complete. I was trying some things to see what worked best so I still had some shots that I had to just toss. I tried metering the shots in the sky (like Understanding Exposure suggests)and also metering it for the water because I wasn't sure how the reflections would turn out if I metered for the sky. Well, I should listen to the experts. The shots that I metered for the water were blown out and they kind of hurt my eyes. ALL of the shots I metered for the sky had PERFECT exposure.

Houston...we have BLUE.

One of my biggest issues in the past has been blue sky. I have the most wonderful family pics at Walt Disney World with the castle behind us and WHITE sky. After reading Understanding Exposure for the 2nd time (and surely not the last!) it finally clicked. I had no problems getting blue sky today, I'm posting 2 pics b/c I love them both, do you see the moon peeking through in one of them?? Neither of them were edited, this is the blue I got from having my settings correct finally! Hope-f22, 1/100, ISO 200

Step Right Up...

We had a circus in Karen's living room today! We had our Disney day and the movie this week was Dumbo. :-) We like to have special food and decorate for these days and I snapped this shot of the table. It wasn't perfect as far as exposure goes but I'm getting there. Karen leant me her copy of Understanding Exposure so hopefully I'll be even closer soon. A new lens would be nice too but for now a borrowed book will have to do, lol.

gotta run...

I took quite a few shots today of our Disney movie day, Dumbo. ICK! My colors were way off, too vivid, maybe now that I'm shooting better I can't have that vivid color setting on??? Either way, I had to go back out and shoot some more b/c I wasn't happy with a single shot I took today. I thought I would take this shot b/c I started back up my running program today, Couch to 5K.

Light

more and more and more rain...

Spring surely is arriving with a BANG. You would have laughed to see me outside this morning IN the rain with my camera, taking this shot.
